Browsing posts
The home page leads with the newest post, followed by a grid of everything else, newest first. Each card shows the title, a short description, the topic, the date, and roughly how long it takes to read.
Click any card to open the full post. Use your browser's back button, or the name and photo in the top-left corner, to return home. If there are more posts than fit on one page, Older posts and Newer posts links appear at the bottom.
Browsing by topic
Every post is tagged with one or more topics: Church Tech, Volunteers, AV, Ministry Operations, Networking, Infrastructure, Communications and AI. Click a topic chip on the home page, on any post, or in the mobile menu to see every post on that subject. Topic pages live at addresses like /tag/av/.
Searching
Every page has a Search button in the top navigation bar. Click it to open the search window and start typing. Results appear as you type and cover post titles, excerpts and tags.
- Click Search (the magnifying glass) in the header.
- Type a keyword, topic, or phrase.
- Click any result to jump to that post.
- Press Esc or click outside the window to close it.
Reading a post
Each post includes the full article, a header image when there is one, the publish date, an estimated reading time, and a short note about the author. Text is set at a comfortable line length for reading on any screen.
At the end of each post you'll find its topics and a few related posts to keep reading. Every post has its own shareable address in the form /blog/post-slug/, so you can copy it from the address bar to share a specific article.
Following new posts (RSS)
The site publishes a standard RSS feed, so you can follow new posts in any feed reader, such as Feedly, NetNewsWire, Reeder or Inoreader.
- Open your RSS reader and choose "Add feed" (or similar).
- Paste the feed address:
https://christianwhitmer.com/rss/ - Save it. New posts will show up automatically.
There's also an RSS link in the footer of every page.
Light and dark mode
The site follows your device's appearance setting. If your phone or computer is set to dark mode, the site switches to a dark color scheme automatically; otherwise it uses the light one. There's nothing to toggle on the site itself.
